Passengers are stranded on planes – stuck at airports across the United States – as a major airline is experiencing a technical issue.

Alaska Airlines is being crippled by the IT outage, which has led to flights being halted on the ground at airports across the US and Mexico. The airline, which serves more than 100 destinations, had said on its website: “Looks like we are experiencing a temporary technical issue. We are aware of the issue and are actively looking into it.”

Passengers should check before they travel, the US Federal Aviation Administration advisory has warned. Airports across the US, such as O’Hare International Airport in Chicago and John F Kennedy International Airport in New York City, are affected by the chaos.
