A Royal Mail postman was determined to deliver a parcel to a customer who wasn’t in, and he came up with a very ‘unique’ way of doing so, which has left people in stitches
Missing a parcel delivery can leave you frustrated, particularly when you’ve only just nipped out and return to find that dreaded card saying you’ll need to rearrange delivery or collect it from the depot the next day. It’s even more maddening if it’s an urgent gift or something you’ve paid premium postage for, as the inconvenience can be seriously aggravating.
However, one Royal Mail postman refused to let an absent recipient prevent him from completing his delivery, and he wasn’t about to leave it in a bin or exposed where thieves could snatch it. Instead, he spotted an open window at the property’s front and seized the chance to deliver through there.
Rather than simply tossing it through and hoping for the best, he cleverly recruited a passing window cleaner who happened to be working nearby at the precise moment of delivery.
A woman called Stacey Curran captured the entire incident on her home security camera and felt compelled to share it on TikTok.
She uploaded an image of the Royal Mail card that had been posted, which stated: “Through the bedroom window,” presumably something no customer would ever anticipate reading.
The clip begins with the delivery driver positioned at the door, waiting for someone to answer, whilst the window cleaner walks past him, glancing in his direction.
The window cleaner and postman were caught on camera having a quick chat, likely concocting a plan to ensure the parcel could be delivered without the postie having to lug it back.
In a hilarious turn of events, the window cleaner fetched his ladders, propped them against the house, and clambered up to the top window to drop off the parcel on behalf of the Royal Mail man.
The postman was then spotted snapping a photo of the window cleaner in action, both of them chuckling at their clever scheme.
“I just know these two were dead chuffed with themselves,” one person commented, and judging by their grinning faces, they certainly were – and deservedly so.
Stacey captioned the video: “Actually can not cope, come home to find this postcard and thought you have got to be having me on, thinking the postman has thrown it through the window!
“Hats off to my window cleaner and postman,” followed by a flurry of applause emojis.
Even the Post Office’s TikTok chimed in, commenting: “He was READY”.
Many pleaded to “see the proof of postage photo,” anticipating it would be a hoot, with one saying: “Don’t leave us hanging!”
One woman quipped: “Sometimes I stay in bed and ignore the door on purpose so this would be very awkward…”
“Mr Postman was determined not to put that parcel back in his van,” another added.
A spokesperson for Royal Mail commented: “Our posties always aim to make sure customers receive their deliveries, and we’re proud of the effort they put in every day. This was certainly a unique method, but we’re pleased the customer received their item”.
