Customers have been issued a warning from Aldi over one of the supermarket’s popular Christmas food snacks, and have been told not to eat it over health fears
Aldi has recalled one of its popular Christmas snacks and told customers not to eat the product due to “health risks”.
The supermarket issued the warning over its Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks, as they may contain peanuts which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product poses a possible health risk for anyone with a peanut allergy, the Food Standards Agency warned.
Aldi has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall, and the company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to customers. The recall notice relates to the 90g Filled Gonks with any best before date and a batch code of 4061463276865.

Anyone who has bought the product and has an allergy to peanuts should not eat the product. The recall notice states: “Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
Aldi said: “We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation.”
Just last month, Aldi recalled its Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s over concerns that the item may contain peanuts. Customers were asked to return the product to their nearest store for a refund and the supermarket issued an apology.
Allergy charity Anaphylaxis UK responded to the news on October 31, saying: “We have been alerted by ALDI that it is recalling Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s from sale because they may contain peanuts which is not correctly declared on the ingredient label.
“The product is therefore unsuitable for and should be avoided by anyone with an allergy or intolerance to peanuts.”
