Meghan Markle raised eyebrows in her latest glossy magazine interview with an unexpected move regarding her title – but it might not have been all as it seemed
Meghan Markle may have made a string of revealing bombshells in her latest big move magazine interview. But it seems an unexpected moment written by the interviewer as she arrived to quiz the Duchess of Sussex is what has really got people talking.
In the chat with glossy magazine Harper’s Bazaar, Meghan gushed over husband Prince Harry, revealing she was drawn to his “childlike wonder and playfulness”. She also revealed how pleased she was that her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were able to watch her as she bravely took the step from making jam in her kitchen to forming her lifestyle brand, As Ever.

But one moment from the interview that has seen Meghan mocked was when the journalist revealed as she went to meet the former actress for a second time at a house in New York, the house manager grandly introduced her as ‘Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’ – despite nobody else seemingly being in the house.
It comes after Meghan has been criticised in the past for clinging on to her royal title despite her and Harry’s decision five years ago to quit their royal roles.
And despite royal expert Jennie Bond believing the introduction was ‘absurd’, she told the Mirror if might not have necessarily been Meghan’s fault.
The former BBC royal correspondent explained: “It sounds so absurd, given the context that this was the second time the interviewer was meeting Meghan, and the first had been so relatively informal, sharing burger and chips at a restaurant.
“So I suspect that this was simply a house manager getting overly pompous about the fact that there was a Duchess in the house. Americans tend to get very excited about titles.
“This was at a friend’s home and the staff were probably over-zealous. It simply doesn’t sound like the huggy, friendly Meghan we see portrayed elsewhere. So, I don’t think we should start criticising Meghan for this.”
In recent days, Meghan has been celebrating Thanksgiving in the US with Harry and the children.
And the couple took their rarely-seen son and daughter for an unexpected outing to a kitchen providing food to those in need ahead of the US Thanksgiving holiday.
In a series of photos posted to her Instagram stories, Meghan and Harry can be seen smiling as they prepared meals at the Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles (OBKLA), a community-run non-profit kitchen that prepares and distributes meals for people in the city experiencing hardship.
Meghan was pictured wearing a white cap and a black apron bearing the blue logo of the couple’s Archewell Foundation, while Harry had his sleeves rolled up and wore an apron with the OBKL logo and a black cap.
Meghan captioned the images “show up, do good”, which is the Archewell Foundation’s mission. A post on the Archewell Foundation website following the visit said it “remains committed to putting compassion into action – serving and uplifting communities locally and globally”.
“As we head into the holiday season, we celebrate those working every day to ensure that no one is left behind, and where the needs of our neighbours are met,” the statement read.
