New Look has dropped a pair of glamorous gold kitten heels in time for party season, and at just £26 they’re the perfect affordable alternative to Jimmy Choo’s similar £800 version
The party season is upon us, and that means pulling together some great outfits for all those fun events that are on the horizon. A great pair of heels can complete an outfit, but they’re also a nightmare if you’re planning on being on your feet or dancing all night.
Thankfully kitten heels have had a resurgence of popularity in the last few years and are a stylish (and comfortable) alternative to high heels. One pair we’ve been eyeing up is New Look’s Gold Faux Leather Pointed Slingback Shoes that cost just £26, but are easy to pair with just about any Christmas party outfit.

The low heels make them perfect for dancing, trekking between locations or just making it easy to get home at the end of the night, but they still have a slim stiletto silhouette which keeps them looking elegant and classy. Coming in gold faux leather, they’re very similar in style to Jimmy Choo’s Amel 50 Metallic Leather Slingback Pumps which set you back a much more eye-watering £795.
Although New Look’s Pointed Slingback Shoes come in other festive colours like cream and red, it’s the metallic gold faux leather pair that we’ve got our eye on. They’re perfect for bringing some fun sparkle to your party outfit without being too over the top, and can be worn with anything from jeans and trousers to maxi dresses and mini skirts thanks to their shape.
Pointed toes help elongate your legs and the slingback strap creates a streamlined look. The straps are also fully adjustable, with a buckle fastening that lets you make sure they feel nice and secure on your feet.
The Pointed Slingback Shoes have been given a 4.7 out of 5 star rating, with one shopper saying: “These shoes look so flattering on.”
Another reviewer wrote: “Purchased for my graduation and they were perfect. Not too high for a day filled with walking. They looked classy and felt very secure on my feet. As with any heels, my feet were a bit sore by the end of the day, but I would recommend these and will wear them again for future events as the colour goes with everything!”
One negative review of the Pointed Slingback Shoes said: “Well made and sturdy, but ugly on my feet. Big feet can look attractive, but not for me in these.”
Another said: “Didn’t look much like the photo but were comfy.”
However the comfort has been widely praised by plenty of other shoppers too. One said: “The most perfect shoes. Comfy and go with nearly everything. I am not good at wearing heels and my feet start aching very quickly but I could wear these all day.”
Similar styles are also available elsewhere, with Oliver Bonas’ Gold Pointed Kitten Heel Slingbacks now on sale for £40, down from £85, with an even lower heel than the New Look pair. For those with wider feet, Next’s Extra Wide Fit Point Toe Low Slingback Kitten Heels Shoes are just £28 and come in both metallic gold and chocolate brown.
