Young mum recalls horror moment her husband confessed to being child sex predator

A young mother has revealed the life-shattering moment her husband confessed to sending perverted messages to schoolgirls online.
Georgia, from Melbourne, had been pregnant with their son when her husband disappeared and couldn’t be contacted for an entire day.
Late that night, he finally returned home and admitted that he had been arrested by police and was facing charges of child sexual abuse.
Georgia’s husband, a navy recruit, would later plead guilty to using a carriage service to groom a person under 16 years.
He had believed he was speaking to two schoolgirls, aged 14 and 15, who were actually police operatives undercover on social media.
Georgia said she still feels sick to her stomach when she remembers that night.
‘I took my wedding ring off and left it on the bathroom bench and I packed a bag and I left, I walked out and I went to my parent’s place,’ she told The Project on Monday.
Georgia, a mother-of-one from Melbourne, was left shell-shocked when her husband, a navy recruit, told her he was facing charges of child sexual abuse
Georgia was just 18-years-old when the charismatic recruit swept her off her feet, telling her that he loved her just two weeks after they met.
She moved from Melbourne to Sydney to be with him, where they were married, bought their first property and later fell pregnant.
‘He was attractive, he was very charismatic, he had a lot of friends, it was like a dream come true, like oh wow, this guy’s actually interested in me,’ she recalled.
However, cracks in their marriage quickly began to show.
Georgia alleges her husband was verbally and physically abusive during their marriage, and that the beatings continued even while she was pregnant.
She claims her husband was adamant that their unborn child must be a boy, telling her that it was ‘either a boy or an abortion’.
At her 10 week scan, Georgia was relieved to find out they were expecting a son.

But it wouldn’t be long before her husband confessed to grooming underage girls.
‘We will be each other’s secret,’ read one of his messages.
Another said: ‘You know I want you as my girl.’
‘I think we could have a lot of fun together,’ a third read.
The navy recruit then encouraged who he had thought were teenage girls to meet up with him and send explicit photos of themselves.
‘You are really sexy,’ one of the messages read.
‘One more pic please… of your face and body. Oh and one of your butt!!!’
Her husband was convicted on two charges and received a two-and-a-half year suspended sentence and 150 hours of community service.
Georgia said the judge had inferred that the breakdown of their marriage and the impact on his future relationship with their son was punishment enough.
‘To me, that is horrifying,’ she said.

He will remain on the sex offender registry for 15 years but has avoided jail time, while Georgia received full custody of their son.
She understands he will have questions about his father as he gets older and is determined to let him form his own opinion.
‘How do you tell someone all of that? What happens if he doesn’t eventually want to meet him and how will I navigate that?’ she said.
‘I try not to be too critical about my ex-husband in the sense that I try not to sway high son’s future opinion of him, if that makes sense.
‘I want my son to deal with facts, to understand the facts, and then to be able to make the decision himself.’
