Now December is here, many parents are making their kids’ mornings by recruit the Elf on a Shelf to play some cheeky Christmas pranks. However, with lots of days to fill up through the month, it can be hard to come up with some new ideas for what they get up to.

To help with that, mum Alina, known as @momhackalina on Instagram, has shared some clever Elf on the Shelf ideas you can borrow. The mum, from the US, often shares her hacks, tips and finds on the app, and her 84,100 followers were loving her reel on the elf ideas, with it racking up multiple likes and comments.

The first idea saw the elf saying he had made breakfast, with spaghetti combined with marshmallows in a bowl, tied up to wooden skewers.

Alina then showed how you create it as she was seen placing the skewers through a fork before digging them into an apple. You then simply place the cooked spaghetti over the skewers and add some marshmallows on top before writing out the note and leaving some syrup to pour on the mixture too.

In another reel, the mum revealed how to make a cheeky set-up where the elf is seen eating breakfast from the toilet.

She first showed how you should place cling film over your toilet before adding cereal on top and pinning a note which says, ‘I couldn’t find the bowls!’. The elf then sits on top with a big mixing spoon, waiting to be found.

A third idea also involved moving the cooker grill so that it looks like the elf is in prison as he’s seen grabbing onto the bars Alina then placed mini candy canes all around him.

People were loving the suggestions, as one person called her ideas “genius”, while another branded them “magic”.

A third fan also chimed in, saying that the ideas were “amazing”.

Be sure to follow Alina’s account as she no doubt shares even more cheeky elf ideas.

The posts come after one mum-of-four created a handy tool to help parents who are short of time to do their Elf on the Shelf.

Kirsten Boisvert, who lives in Essex with partner Jay, 46, an entrepreneur, and their four children, Sofia, 11, Leo, nine, Myla, six and four-year-old Sienna, has used the power of AI to make an app that adds a naughty elf making mischief to pictures from your home known as Elf Watch.

You simply upload a picture of the room they’d like the elf to appear, and then the app creates a scene, adding the elf dancing and making mischief. All a parent has to do then, is place whatever prop they chose in the same place, like cotton wool balls, or a banana. In the morning, children will find the elf, the banana, and then can be shown a funny video of their elf interacting with it while they were asleep.

Kirsten said: “A few years back my son was desperate to catch the elf on camera. We have a ring doorbell in the lounge and he kept saying, ‘Why can’t we catch it, I want to see?’ We worked out a way to add a moving elf to a still picture.”

“All my children still fully believe in the elf thanks to the videos, even my 11-year-old who is in year six.

“If she comes back from school and says, ‘My friends don’t think it’s real’ – we just show her another video of ‘proof’. I think I can keep her as a believer for at least another year.”
