Body of man recovered from Thames near Excel centre

man’s body was recovered from the River Thames near the ExCeL centre on Wednesday morning.
Police were called after members of the public spotted a man’s body in the Royal Victoria Dock at 7.45am.
Officers, paramedics and firefighters recovered the body of a man, aged in his 30s, from the water.
A Met spokesperson said: “At this early stage the death is being treated as unexpected. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”
A crime scene remains in the area.
Footage from the scene shows police tape close to the entrance of the Royal Victoria Dock footbridge.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.52am today (24 May) to reports of a person in the water at the Royal Victoria Dock, E16.
“We sent an incident response officer, our hazardous area response team and a tactical response unit to the scene.
“Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
