McVitie’s launches new Gold digestives – and fans say they ‘need’ them now

We all love a good biscuit to dunk into a cuppa, but the game has recently changed. New biccies are hitting supermarket shelves, and people can’t get enough of them

The biscuit game has changed as McVitie’s struck gold with a new dunker.

Gold Digestives officially hit supermarket shelves, and people can’t stop talking about them. The irresistible innovation brings together two of McVitie’s best loved biscuits in a collaboration between the nostalgic 80s Gold bar and the classic Digestive.

The combination sees the golden caramel flavour mixed with sweet and salty Digestive biscuit, and they seem to be hitting the spot with sweet fans. McVitie’s limited-edition Gold Digestives hit the shelves in July, and offer an “indulgent little pick-me-up”.

With the original Digestive first baked in 1892, Gold Digestives join an existing family of flavours including, Milk, Dark and White Chocolate – which was a huge hit among fans when it launched last summer.

Now, as we approach the 100th anniversary of the Milk Chocolate Digestive, this unexpected and exciting brand partnership brings biscuit-lovers across the nation a truly original taste experience that stands out from the crowd, and the biscuit aisle.

People have already been raving about the sweet treats, and they sparked a lot of conversation after a snap of them was posted on the Dansway Gifts and Bargains UK Facebook page.

The post read: “Here’s a closer look at the New Golden Caramel McVitie’s Digestives from Sainsbury’s. They taste absolutely delicious, extremely moreish and go perfectly alongside a cup of tea.”

Since the biccies were shared on social media, more than 15,000 people have been talking about them. It looks as though Britain has got biscuits on the brain.

One person said: “I need some today.” Another wrote: “I need these in my life.”

A third replied: “We definitely need these.” Meanwhile, a fourth tagged her partner, writing: “You work next to Sainsbury’s husband. Make my day.”

McVitie’s Gold Chocolate Digestives will be available in Sainsbury’s from July 7, and will be rolling out to other UK supermarkets and stores soon, including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Co-op and more.
