A woman has been left in a tricky spot after learning that her ex-boyfriend has named his baby daughter after her – and she doesn’t believe his current partner knows

Many of us still pine for an ex, but would you go as far as to name your baby after them?

After hearing her former beau had become a dad, one woman was left positively baffled when she learned he’d apparently named his child after her – and she doesn’t think his new partner has a clue. The woman, whose name is Freya, noted that her name isn’t exactly a common one, making the decision all the more strange.

Taking to Australian-based gossip group Tea Time Facebook, stunned Freya revealed: “My ex had a baby…. just found out he’s named her the same name as me.” Now, Freya is undoubtedly a strong and beautiful name, with its strong roots in Norse mythology making it the perfect choice for your own little warrior princess.

It’s unlikely however that a person could love and lose a Freya, only for the name to hold no wistful meaning whatsoever. Although some group members believe it could just be a very odd coincidence, others just can’t understand why the new dad would choose to be reminded of his old flame every time he called his daughter’s name.

To make matters more complicated, this was no passing fling, with the pair having once planned on spending the rest of their lives together…

Giving a little more information, Freya explained: “I don’t think the baby’s mum knows about my existence now, despite him being with me for four years. We were engaged too! My name is not that common, which makes it weirder. It’s Freya.”

A number of members were left seething on the unnamed mother’s behalf, with one person declaring they’d be left ‘spewing’ if such an origin was ever revealed. Another wrote: “That’s messy. My heart would break if I found out my husband did this.”

Others however simply didn’t see the supposed tribute as too much of a deal breaker, reasoning that it was ‘just a name’ after all. Agreeing that it wasn’t too much of a ‘big deal’, another person reflected: “Maybe his wife suggested it, and he just didn’t speak up. Or he told her he had an ex called Freya, and she said she didn’t care.”
