AC Milan vs Inter: Champions League – LIVE!

AC Milan vs Inter: Champions League – LIVE!

AC and Inter meet in a Milan derby in the Champions League semi-finals at San Siro tonight. The two Italian giants are battling it out to be Serie A’s first finalist since 2017 in one of the most evocative fixtures possible at this stage of Europe’s elite competition.

While this Milan team are somewhat inexperienced on this level, this is still a club who boast a history few can match in this competition. Quite how much that will play into tonight’s game is up for debate of course but Real Madrid have certainly proven precedence means something over the years.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, are the last Italian winners of the European Cup. Under the management of Simone Inzaghi, they have been something of cup specialists and beat their city rivals in the Supercoppa back in January. Follow the action LIVE with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog!

Simon Inzaghi insists there are no favourites for the Euro derby

Addressing the unique nature of the game, the Inter boss insists there are no favourites for the tie.

“Matches are all stories in themselves, we know the importance of tomorrow’s game and we want to play it to the best of our ability, knowing that it will be an important step that has to be taken with skill, determination and aggression over 180 minutes.”

Oliver Giroud fires Champions League warning to AC Milan’s rivals

The Frenchman, who won the competition with Chelsea, has warned the rest of the competition not to take the seven-time winners lightly.

“You should never underestimate anyone. At this level the smallest details make the difference. We have the ambition and we want to believe in it, we know we can do it but it will happen step by step. We’ll see what City and Real will do, but at the moment we’re focused on Inter and we just want to win.

“We’re talking about a special club. Last year I couldn’t ask for more than winning the Scudetto. I’m very proud of what we’re doing with this team, with the coach and his staff. It would be deserved, for the commitment we put in and I would be very proud to reach the final. It would be fantastic and I think the fans deserve it.”

Inter team news: Lukaku to start

For Inter, Milan Skriniar and Robin Gosens are the main fitness concerns and are not expected to feature.

AC Milan team news: Leao a major worry

AC Milan have been handed a big injury worry after Rafael Leao was forced off during the weekend win over Lazio with a muscle injury. He has undergone a fitness test on the morning of the game.

Alexis Saelemaekers deputised and would likely do so again on Wednesday if required. Elsewhere, Tommaso Pobega is the only other fitness concern.
