While battling for the Premier League title, this competition may be seen as something of a distraciton by some Arsenal fans but Mikel Arteta will be strongly enticed by the possibility of a League-and-Europe double.

Eddie Nketiah is not fit for Arsenal, although there are not thought to be any fresh injury concenrs.

Hector Bellerin is set to miss his return to the Emirates with a knee injury for Sporting. Goalkeeper Antonio Adan is another doubt with a muscle complaint.
