How Liverpool could line up against Real Madrid in the Champions League

A largely first-choice lineup put in a miserable performance against Bournemouth at the weekend that served as a worrying build-up to their attempt at a Bernabeu miracle.

Real’s three-goal lead in the last-16 tie will require Liverpool to put in a complete performance at both ends in the Spanish capital.

Klopp is set to be without Joe Gomez, Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz with all three still yet to return to full training. The manager has hinted at playing returns Diaz and Gomez after the international break.

Naby Keita is also yet to return from a muscle issue with Calvin Ramsay out for the rest of the season.

Liverpool boss Klopp spoke to the media on Tuesday evening after the squad flew out to Madrid, revealing that another midfield pair are also sidelined in Jordan Henderson and Stefan Bajcetic.

Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and the fit-again Arthur Melo could all be deployed in a freshened up XI.

However, there is also a chance the same Reds side that flopped at Bournemouth are sent out again to prove their worth.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Milner; Salah, Firmino, Jota.
