How we expect Liverpool to line up against Southampton

Both players were forced off during extra-time of the penalty shootout win, with Klopp stating post-match that the issue for Salah was the greater of the two.

However, he was later more upbeat and suggested both could be ready to face Southampton on Tuesday night.

“I spoke to both after the game and both are really okay,” said Klopp. “All that we know is that it’s not a big thing we really came through.

“But the next game is on Tuesday and that’s obviously pretty quick. I think they both will be fine. We have training on Sunday morning, and I’d be surprised [if they were fine then] but I’d take it. We will see.”

Klopp explained that both Van Dijk and Salah informed him of their issues during the game against Chelsea, with the Egyptian winger taken off as a “precaution”.

Elsewhere, Fabinho is set to miss the match while continuing to recover from a hamstring injury and there are minor doubts over Andrew Robertson after he appeared to pick up a knock at Wembley.

Given the gravity of the match, Klopp will be loath to make changes despite a draining set of fixtures of late.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Henderson, Thiago; Salah, Mane, Diaz.
