An Aussie renter was left perplexed by a strange gadget on the bottom of a kitchen cupboard in her new home.

The Brisbane woman shred her confusion online and asked users if anyone know what the round object could be and it was later revealed to be a jar and bottle opener.

The round contraption was adhered to the bottom of a cabinet in her new rental’s kitchen and had two long, spiked blades on one side. 

Some people offered their suggestions as to what the bizarre object could be before dozens revealed its real function as a jar opener. 

‘Just moved into a new place and have this stuck to the bottom of the cupboard does anyone know what this could be,’ the woman asked in a post,

‘Looks a like part of the turning shelf like lazy Susan and the rest went elsewhere,’ one group member guessed.

However many confirmed the item was a jar opener.

‘I’ve got one and works really well,’ one woman said and another called the gadget the ‘best thing ever’ but a third said she ‘can’t get the hang’ of hers. 

The opener can grab hold of any lid of a jar or bottle when wedged between the two angled sides whether it’s factory-sealed, child-proofed or even screwed on too tightly.

The blades provides grip and a simple twist will release the lid.

It if often used by people with mobility issues, arthritis or weak hands and is designed to be fitted to the bottom of a kitchen cabinet to save bench space.
