Cleaning pro wows thousands with little-known dishwasher hack: ‘I never knew you could do this’
- A little-known dishwasher hack has emerged mesmerising thousands
- A woman turns the cutlery holder sideways, pushing it into dishwasher door
Thousands have been left gobsmacked after a woman discovered a ‘mind-blowing’ dishwasher hack.
A woman shared two little-known ways to position the cutlery holder inside certain dishwasher models to make more room for plates and bowls.
First she turned the holder onto the side and pushed it onto the dishwasher door before closing it, but alternatively it can also be hung on the bottom drawer itself.
Few seemed to know about the tips after Instagram account @truearthmovement demonstrated the hack in a video that caught the attention of the masses.
‘I was today years old when I learned my dishwasher could do this,’ the woman wrote in the clip.

After watching the clip, many rushed to their dishwasher to try it for themselves.
‘I have the same dishwasher and after three years I finally did this,’ one person admitted.
‘Mine hangs on the front of the rack but I didn’t know it could go on the door!’ a second added, and a third said: ‘I need to try this!!!’
While some had the exact same model, others were disappointed their household appliance lacked the handy feature.
‘Immediately ran to my dishwasher. Looked for hooks, none there. Immediately sad,’ one wrote.
‘I wish mine did this! I tried this morning and it was a no-go,’ another said.
Another said: ‘This must be for more high-end dishwashers.’
However, some questioned the method and why it would need to be used.
‘Just out of curiosity why would one want to do that? Wouldn’t all the cutlery just fall out as you open & close the dishwasher? And if one wants more space one can just remove the cutlery holder?’ one person asked.
But it was confirmed the cutlery ‘doesn’t fall out’.
The idea is by having the holder on the side of the door, it creates more space in the dishwasher for dirty plates and bowls.

It comes after mum-of-two Chantel Mila revealed how she deep cleans her dishwasher, and how she gets her dishes sparkling every time.
The Melbourne mum said that over time dishwashers build up grime and gunk, so every so often, you need to clean them to ensure they are working to the best of their ability.
‘Here is the simplest way to get cleaner dishes,’ Chantel posted in one of her TikTok videos.
To start your dishwasher deep clean, you first of all need to remove the filter, and empty, soak and wash it in your sink with dishwashing liquid.
‘Next, get a jug or cup and fill it with white vinegar,’ Chantel said.
Then, place it on the top shelf of your dishwasher where you might store glasses and cups.
‘Run the dishwasher at the hottest temperature for a normal cycle and then let it air dry,’ she said.
This should give your dishwasher a ‘deep clean’, and ensure your dishes come out cleaner, brighter and whiter.
The reason why the vinegar works so well is because it breaks down any remaining food, grime, soap scum and residue that is left over in the dishwasher.
It also helps to sterilise your machine and flush grease, limescale and deposits out of the pipes ahead of its next use.
