Kamikar Brar will be sentenced next month
A West London pensioner who sexually harassed two girls in a shopping centre has been convicted. Kamikar Brar, 66, of Sutherland Road, Ealing, admitted one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child at St Albans Magistrates’ Court after making drunken sexual comments to the youngsters on a stairwell in the Harlequin centre in Watford on May 3.
The sordid behaviour only ended when a member of the public noticed the children looking uncomfortable and asked if paedophile Brar was bothering them. They said yes, so the bystander told Brar to leave, which he did. But Brar returned and continued with the lewd chat, catching the attention of another bystander who reported him to the shopping centre’s security team.
Police were called and Brar was arrested and charged. In October his bail conditions stopped him from entering Watford for any reason. He will be sentenced next month on November 13.
Detective Sergeant Ayodeji Afolabi, from the constabulary’s Case Investigation Team, said: “This was a frightening incident for the young victim and her friend, and I want to commend their courage throughout the investigation. We will always do everything in our power to support victims of sexual offences in Hertfordshire, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Brar targeted the victim while she was out shopping with her friend, but thanks to the quick-thinking of members of the public and the Harlequin’s security team, we were able to quickly attend and arrest him at the scene. Now he has admitted his offending, we await the sentencing result next month.”
