Two women were rushed to hospital after a car smashed through a fence, pinning a pregnant woman against a wall in South London, according to a resident. Thessaly Road in Nine Elms was cordoned off by police at around 4:30pm on Friday (June 6) after a grey hatchback came off the road near New Mansion Square, ramming through the metal barrier that borders a block of flats.
Police have said two women, in their 30s and 40s, were injured and taken to hospital, but they were not life-threatening or life-changing. The force did not say whether there had been any arrests.
A local resident told MyLondon: “The accident was with four women who got in the car and hit the accelerator by mistake and crashed into two people pushing and pinning a pregnant woman against the wall of the flats.”
The resident added that emergency services responded with two fire engines, six ambulances, police, and an emergency medical helicopter.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at 16:43hrs on Friday, 6 June to reports of an road traffic collision on Thessaly Road, Lambeth involving one vehicle and two pedestrians.
“Two females, aged in their 30s and 40s, reported injuries and were taken to hospital, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.”
