One TikTok user shared a number of dishwasher hacks in a video she published last week – but people were floored by what she used instead of normal rinse aid
People are only just realising there is a cheaper alternative to dishwasher rinse aid that costs just 60p and is probably already in your cupboard. Once you have a washing machine there are a number of things to keep on top of, from cleaning maintenance to topping up the salt and making sure you have enough tablets.
One thing people tend to skip out on is buying rinse aid, mostly due to the cost and it seeming unnecessary. But people are only just realising there is an alternative that can be used in the machine, and you probably already have it in your cupboard or under the sink.
One TikTok user, @anadovada, shared a number of dishwasher hacks in a video she published last week – but people were floored by what she used instead of rinse aid.
She said: “Use vinegar instead of rinse aid, it helps prevent water spots and leave dishes shiny.”
One user replied: “Yes!! the vinegar helped. I accidently figured this out because I had a random vinegar that needed to be used up so I added it.”
A second said: “Yep I use vinegar too,” while another added: “Thank you for this.”
Other hacks the TikTok user shared included placing a towel in the door to absorb steam from inside the machine, cleaning the sides of the dishwasher to prevent damage to the seals and remembering to clean the filter.
Although, users were puzzled when the user only recommended cleaning the filter every six months.
One person said: “Every 6 months???? Jesus. I wash it weekly.”
A second said: “Girl you gotta wash that filter every month!!!”
A third penned: “I clean my filter every three uses ! six months gross! You’d smell it for sure!”
