A man was left with a bleed on the brain following a violent assault in the City of London earlier this year. He was attacked outside Monument Tube station, near the capital’s financial district, at around 2am on Friday, April 4.

The City of London Police is investigating the shocking incident but is yet to make an arrest in connection almost four and a half months later. A CCTV appeal has now been launched in the hopes the public can identify a person of interest.

The force confirmed they would like to speak to the man pictured as soon as possible. The image shows a White man with short dark hair and a beard.

He also appears to be wearing a black top or jumper with 3/4-quarter length sleeves.

The news comes after MyLondon reported the assault of a man in the ticket line at Mile End station. He was allegedly attacked just before 11.30pm on July 20, with police, paramedics and a doctor rushing to the Tube stop minutes later.

Officers shut the station for almost 12 hours whilst enquiries were made, only reopening it at 10.30am the following day. Commuters were unable to board the Central, District and Hammersmith & City lines for much of the morning as a result.

Anyone with information on the Monument station assault is urged to contact police on 020 7601 2222, quoting reference 93321. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
