The fourth heatwave of the summer looks set to come to an end early next week, with temperatures expected to plummet. Despite this, the sun will continue to shine, and there will still be plenty of activities to enjoy in the warm weather.
According to the BBC Weather forecast, temperatures in London are expected to drop to around 25°C at the start of Sunday, offering some relief from the recent heatwave.
Monday and Tuesday are set to bring clear skies with consistent, warm temperatures, perfect for enjoying time outdoors or socialising.
However, by Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will change slightly, with temperatures dipping a few degrees and more clouds moving in, creating a cooler, less sunny atmosphere compared to earlier in the week.
London saw its fourth heatwave of the year early this week, with temperatures climbing as high as 33°C.
It made for one of the hottest days of the year, bringing people outdoors but also causing sleepless nights and plenty of discomfort from the heat.
An amber warning was issued at the start of the week. With this being London’s fourth heatwave in just one year, residents are being urged to take steps to cope with the extreme conditions.
At the same time, Mayor Sadiq Khan has been called on to prioritise measures that protect Londoners’ homes, as many are struggling to deal with the intense weather. Water fountains, more trees, and cooler new-builds are just some of the strategies being suggested to the Mayor of London.
City Hall is currently developing London’s Heat Risk Delivery Plan, which aims to help the city tackle rising temperatures more effectively.
As heatwaves become more frequent, London’s efforts to adapt and protect its residents are more crucial than ever.
