When someone ordered a prawn saag from their local takeaway, they were left seriously baffled when something totally different turned up – and many were left in stitches
There’s nothing quite like getting a takeaway when you can’t be bothered to cook, but one foodie was left shocked when they read a rude note left on their box by the Indian restaurant they’d ordered from.
People were left wondering what was under the lid of the box when they saw what was scrawled on top, giggling at the fact that it didn’t sound like a regular dish you’d see on the menu. The customer was left “concerned” about what lurked under the lid, and they took to Reddit to share the hilarious finding, with many making some hilariously rude jokes about it. The lid of the box read: “Prawn shag”, instead of “saag”.
It didn’t take long for people to offer their thoughts on what could potentially be within the takeaway box, with many replying with cheeky innuendos that were enough to leave people cringing.
“Careful you don’t get crabs”, someone joked, with another writing: “May taste a little salty.” “Prepare to be disappointed – they tend to be shellfish lovers”, a Redditor penned. “Did you have to wait long for the delivery, or did it come quickly?”, somebody cheekily asked.
Despite the fact that the original poster was “concerned” about what they may find in the “prawn shag”, they clarified in the comments that their prawn saag was “damn delicious”. Somebody else praised the UK for the fact they weren’t using plastic containers too, sharing: “I’m just happy they still use these containers in the UK. In Australia, it’s all plastic.”
All jokes aside, however, somebody explained how the mistake was likely made, sharing their insight. They wrote: “It’s the Bengali pronunciation of saag (spinach). Some call it ‘hag’. One of the chefs must’ve written it LOL. The waiters are typically British-born. One of them usually does the packing.”
