Shannon and her husband Nick were visiting Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, when things took a turn for the worse – but they were left utterly gobsmacked by what happened next
Most married couples would agree that misplacing your wedding band is a massive worry, and some even view it as an omen of ill fortune. Regardless of whether it is or not, losing one of your most cherished items can undoubtedly cause a sinking sensation in your gut like no other.
It can occasionally occur in the most unforeseen of places – and you might believe you have absolutely no chance when it comes to recovering it. When Shannon, who goes by @PrincessShannon on TikTok, lost her wedding ring while on a ride at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida in the US, she believed there was no hope of retrieving it.
Shannon and her spouse Nick had been enjoying Camp Jurassic at Universal, a “multi-level prehistoric playground” featuring “dark caves and amber mines” when their “worst nightmare” occurred. Nick seemed to be filming Shannon crossing a cave with running water below, on a bridge made of rope, when her hand hit the side of the bridge – causing her wedding ring to “fly” off.
Looking visibly horrified, Shannon said it “just fell off”.
Meanwhile, Nick admitted he “didn’t know what to tell her”, but decided to ask someone if they could assist. After conversing with staff at the theme park, they were informed they would have to wait until the end of the evening, when the water jets could be switched off.
In a TikTok video, an optimistic Shannon said: “Hopefully it just went to the ground and then they’ll find it.” They later found a staff member who offered to help.
Shannon detailed how Universal employees ventured underneath with “flashlights and grabbers” in an attempt to locate the ring. To her surprise, they discovered a different ring but continued their search.
Then, against all odds, something completely unexpected happened – they managed to find Shannon’s wedding ring in the cave system. It’s safe to say both were relieved and utterly astounded.
Nick can be heard in the video exclaiming: “That’s the one. Oh my gosh. Thank you guys. I don’t know how to express our thank you. I genuinely thought we lost it. This was beyond what we expected you guys to do, so thank you guys. I had a pit in my stomach this whole time. I actually wanted to cry.”
Later, Shannon revealed that Nick felt responsible for the incident as he was supposed to be the one crossing the bridge. In the comments section, Shannon clarified: “I had asked him to go on the bridge for a video but it didn’t seem like he wanted to, so I decided to go instead- so he blames himself for me being in the situation! Not his fault at all though.”
In her post, Shannon detailed the day’s events: “My worst nightmare… Losing my wedding ring in the depths of Camp Jurassic at Universal. I usually don’t wear my ring on long park days because of this, but the one day that I was… welp… Thank you SO MUCH to all the team members!!!”.
People were left astounded by the efforts of the Universal employees in the comments section, praising their exceptional service. “The way I gasped with that fully clothed employee in the water. What a good human.
“I was not expecting them to jump in there. That’s customer service right there,” another chimed in.
“Shoutout to the employee going ABOVE and BEYOND!!!” exclaimed another.
Universal Studios Orlando has been contacted for a response.
