A brand new film and characters will grace our screens next year as Pixar are releasing a new film called Hoppers – but fans are divided over some features in the animation
Disney and Pixar never fail to amaze fans with their abundance of ideas for new films or sequels to beloved favourites. And if you’re a fan of the animation wizzes, you’ll be pleased to know that a new movie is hitting cinemas in 2026.
It’s called Hoppers and will be coming to the big screen on March 6. The film follows an animal lover named Mabel, who hops at the opportunity to try new technology that allows her communicate with furry friends.
The film, created and directed by Daniel Chong, explores what happens when you turn human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals. Using the new technology, Mabel will uncover mysteries within the animal world that are beyond anything she could have imagined.
The cast includes Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm. Director Chong – famous for his work on We Bare Bears – said: “I can’t wait for everyone to see it.” And it seems that there are plenty of people who can’t wait for the release date to arrive!
‘This caught my attention’
On YouTube, people rushed to share their excitement after watching the trailer. One individual said: “The We Bare Bears guy is making a Pixar movie. I can already tell I’m gonna love this movie”
One other said: “The fact that the creator of We Bare Bears was directing this caught my attention. This is what I would expect from him, delightful wholesomeness guaranteed to put a smile on everyone!”
A third gushed: “Disney better do a good job on promoting this movie because this looks sick.”
Meanwhile, another wrote: “The deers animation style, especially the shrinking pupil reminds me of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’s style and I love it.”
And another film critic gushed: “I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a Pixar movie. I cannot wait.”
Animation style and Avatar comparisons
However, others were less enthusiastic about the upcoming release. One commenter moaned: “I hate this stupid animation style.”
Others believe the movie isn’t very original, either. A critic wrote: “I hate this animation style and this movie is not original. It’s just Brother Bear crossed with Avatar with Open Season humour. It doesn’t appeal to me.”
Another wrote: “So animated Avatar with beavers instead of blue people. Got it.” And a further agreed, writing: “I’m sorry is anyone else getting the plot to Avatar with this movie?”
We think it’s best to reserve judgement until we actually watch the movie, which we’re excited to do!
Until then, Pixar fans have Zootopia 2 to look forward to. It’s being released this year on November 26.
