Meghan Markle has not visited the UK since 2022 when she attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, and she looks unlikely to return even to accompany her husband Prince Harry

The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is unlikely to return to the UK even with her husband Prince Harry visiting London next month.

The Duke of Sussex is visiting the UK to celebrate ten years of the Invictus Games in May, and some had thought that Meghan may accompany him, but an expert has revealed the former Suits actress is unlikely to visit the UK. Meghan has been back in the UK since the pair stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 but only on rare occasions which included Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. However, she did not return for King Charles III’s coronation last year, which Harry attended alone.

A royal commentator has now revealed that Meghan could likely stay away from the UK due to safety fears after Harry lost his high court battle against the Home Office as well as wanting to avoid drama between herself and her sister-in-law the Princess of Wales.

British commentator Esther Krakue spoke on GB News about Meghan’s potential visit, adding she believes that she won’t attend with Harry – especially due to one major reason. Speaking on the show, Ms Krakue said: “I actually think she’s avoiding the UK because she’s not interested in the whole drama and, kind of, being injected, is she going to talk to [Princess] Kate, and all of that.

“I personally think she’s not going to come because, obviously, Harry has lost his case with the Home Office and he said he doesn’t feel safe bringing his family over [to the UK] and I also think this is going to be a time where distance between the Sussexes and the Royal Family will be calcified because the focus will obviously be on the Princess of Wales and the King recovering, they don’t need the whole Netflix drama.”

Earlier this year Prince Harry lost his fight against the Home Office and RAVEC at the UK High Court following downgrades to his security after he stepped back from being a working royal. The Duke had been trying to overturn a ruling which saw his security status downgraded after he stopped being a “working royal”, as he cited concerns over his safety and that of his wife and two young children. Harry’s legal previously told the High Court: “The claimant’s consistent position has been, and remains, that he should be given state security in light of the threats/risks he faces.”

Following the High Court ruling, details of Harry’s case have been made public – including his fears for his family when he visits Britain. Much of the legal proceedings surrounding the case, which covered security arrangements for senior figures, were held in private in December, with the ruling issued by retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane last month. After the decision ruled against him, the Duke revealed he plans to appeal the decision.
