A train passenger was punched in the face during an alleged unprovoked attack at London Bridge station, the British Transport Police has said. The victim, a man in his 50s, was knocked to the floor by an unidentified assailant at around 10.15pm on Thursday, July 10, breaking his glasses in the process.

He was standing near the escalators between platforms two and five at the time. His attacker left the station before officers could arrive after members of the public intervened.

BTP has now launched a CCTV appeal in the hopes someone can identify a person of interest. A statement reads: “Officers believe the man in the images could have information that may assist their enquiries.”

The pictures show a White, middle-aged man with glasses and thick white beard. He is wearing a yellow baseball cap, a grey t-shirt covered by a blue checked shirt, green cargo shorts and white Adidas trainers.

He is also wearing a watch on his left wrist and a bracelet on his right, with what appears to be tattoos on both forearms.

The plea for information comes days after a man was assaulted on a DLR train approaching Stratford station.

Anyone who recognises him, or has relevant information, is urged to text BTP on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 50, quoting 388 of 16 July.
