The Met Police are investigating after a number of mobile phones, suspected to have been nicked at Creamfields, appear to have ended up at the same address in London.

MyLondon’s sister title, The ECHO, was contacted by several people who attended the Daresbury festival over the bank holiday weekend, claiming their phones were pinched amidst crowds of nearly 80,000 revellers. Upon returning home from the festival, they each logged onto their Apple iCloud to track the location of their missing mobiles through the Find My Apple app. The devices have “pinged” at the same address in Barking, East London.

Kim O’Rielly, 41, from Runcorn, told the ECHO she believes the thefts were part of an “organised operation” after logging on to the Creamfields Facebook Community Group to discover “dozens” of festival-goers reporting the same issue.

However, police said they had “no indication” organised groups were behind the thefts. Cheshire Constabulary told MyLondon in a further update today: “A number of enquiries have been carried out, including working with colleagues in Manchester and London. At this time, all lines of enquiry have been exhausted however if anyone has any new information, they are urged to get in touch.”

Kim O’Rielly said it was her 19-year-old daughter Ellie’s phone that was taken; on the Sunday night during the David Guetta set. She said: “She had taken her phone out of her bag and was recording the set. She put it back into her bag, zipped it up, then around five minutes later she went into her bag and noticed it [her bag] was open and her phone was missing..”

Ellie searched the surrounding area to see if she had dropped her iPhone on the ground and spotted several girls doing the same thing. Kim said: “There were a few girls looking for their phone near to where she was standing. She wasn’t drunk or anything.”

When Ellie got home that evening she logged onto her laptop to track the phone and discovered it was at an address in Manchester, roughly an hour after she realised it had vanished.

The mum and daughter checked the location of the phone again on Wednesday (August 27) and it has now “pinged up” at an address in Barking. The mum looked at the Creamfields Facebook Community Group and found numerous people reporting a similar incident, all claiming their phones have ended up at the same address in Barking.

Kim reported the incident to Cheshire Police who says there is “no indication” that organised crime gangs were involved in the theft of any property at Creamfields.

A 19 year old from Manchester, who wished to remain anonymous, told the ECHO about her “brand new” iPhone 15 being allegedly nicked from her bag during the festival. She recounted spending “hours” combing the fields of Daresbury without any luck in finding her lost phone. Upon returning home, she used her laptop to track the phone through the Find My Apple app and found it was at the same address reported in the Creamfields Facebook group.

The teenager got in touch with Cheshire Police and also suspects it was an “organised operation.”
