The cast of Ted Lasso has been spotted filming the upcoming fourth season in Richmond – but one beloved character is nowhere to be seen. Fans were left awestruck when Jason Sudeikis, in his signature moustache and blue jumper, appeared outside The Prince’s Head pub (aka the Crown & Anchor) on The Green earlier this week.
Now known as the spiritual home of the fictional AFC Richmond, it’s likely Ted, Roy Kent and hopefully many other familiar faces will once again enjoy a hangout or two in the new series. Speaking of the team’s loveable manager, Brett Goldstein was also pictured on set with on-screen niece Phoebe (Elodie Blomfield) and sister Dr. O’Sullivan (Sophia Barclay).
The star-studded line-up was rounded off with a brief sighting of club owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) at posh riverside spot Scott’s. Crew members protected her from the rain as she left the restaurant in a glamorous hairdo – and Dryrobe.
Richmond Theatre was also reportedly closed off with security guards stationed outside as filming took place on Monday evening (September 1). Warner Bros. trucks were parked in the roads as a team worked inside.
Despite all the exciting activity, some Apple TV+ viewers say they’re ‘not interested’ unless striker Jamie Tartt makes an appearance soon. As of now, actor Phil Dunster have not been confirmed as returning for the new series, and he’s not been seen in West London either.
Social media has been flooded with complaints since the news, with one TikTok user saying: “I really hope they’re lying and Phil Dunster is actually coming back.
Another shared this sentiment, writing: “Give us Jamie Tartt!,” whilst a third shared: “Why can’t they continue with the main cast? It seems like an unnecessary change.”
What will happen in season 4?
Ted Lasso has captured the hearts of viewers and critics alike since its 2020 premiere, with Jason Sudeikis leading the comedy series as the endlessly positive Coach Lasso tasked with bringing AFC Richmond to glory. As far as we know, the fourth season will pick up where last season left off, but it will hop across the pond to Kansas where Lasso returned in the finale.
The titular lead figure will then head back to the UK. Sudeikis said: “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap’, in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
It’s now clear some familiar faces will be making a reappearance but the future of the players is up in the air. However, the star has confirmed a popular fan theory – Ted Lasso will be coaching a women’s football team.
Sadly fans still have some time to wait for their next fix as the series is slated for a summer 2026 return.
