A man who works at Tesco bought a National Lottery Scratchcard every day for a week to mark his final shifts working at the supermarket, which has just launched new scanners in store. Aaron, known as agfitness7 on TikTok, said he doesn’t promote gambling, but he wanted to do something to mark his final week working for the company, so experimenting with Scratchcards is what he decided to do.

In the week leading up to his last day, he opted to snap up a card on every shift, and he documented his journey in videos online. Recently, he came to the end of his National Lottery experiment, and finally completed his last day at work at Tesco, and he was left pretty floored by what he won.

With only two shifts left, he told people he bought another card, and he admitted his losing run “may go down in the history books”, as he had a “terrible” experience. You may not be surprised to hear it’s not the first time someone has shared their bad luck with Scratchcards.

Aaron is then seen tearing the card up, adding: “That’s another loss.” However, his luck seemed to change a little in his most recent video.

With only one shift left, Aaron bought another Scratchcard and revealed what he won. He said: “We are on a losing streak at the moment. I’ve won one time – won £5 off a £5 Scratchcard, so I’m currently like £30 down.

“Today, I am changing the luck, because I’ve got my colleague’s son to scratch my Scratchcard. So, game one is finished, and we’ve won a fiver, so we’ve broken even.

“We’ve still got another three games left.” After some more scratching, Aaron added: “Basically, we ended up winning a fiver, so we broke even on the card, which is the second time it happened.”

Many people have been following Aaron’s videos, and some were chuffed that he finally won. Most seemed to be of the understanding that the cards are simply a big game of luck, even if he didn’t win as much as he’d hoped.

One said: “Wow – a win.” To this, Aaron replied: Finally!”

Another shared a success story, writing: “I bought one and won nothing. The next one, won £500.” Meanwhile, in a previous video, someone else commented: “Oh no. Unlucky!”

It’s estimated that the chances of winning on a £5 Scratchcard are roughly one in four, which includes cards that simply earn back their purchase price.

The odds can vary across different games, and for those curious about the specifics, details are usually found on the reverse of each Scratchcard.

In line with responsible gambling measures, the National Lottery website states that there is now a cap on buying Scratchcards, with a maximum of 10 allowed per transaction at any outlet offering National Lottery games.
