With miles of golden sand, the stunning beach is a popular spot to watch the sun go down
The UK is spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches. For nature lovers looking for a tranquil and picturesque spot to watch the sunset, a popular beach near St Ives, Cornwall, is well worth checking out.
Under 30 minutes from St Ives by car, Hayle Towans Beach is very popular with visitors, and it’s not hard to see why. Cornwall Beaches explains: “This expanse of beach is what makes up a large part of Hayle’s ‘3 miles of golden sand’.
“At low tide all the Hayle beaches join up to provide an impressive stretch of sand popular with sand yachts and kite buggies.” The ‘beautiful’ beach is ranked as the number two attraction in Hayle on TripAdvisor.
One impressed visitor wrote: “Best place on earth. 54 years of visits here, never get bored with the views and the gorgeous walks around the cliffs to Gwithian and Godrevy. Stunning always!”
A second said: “Hayle Towans and Gwithian Towans together make a stunning stretch of wide, white sand. Cornwall at its best. Glorious!”
A third fan wrote: “The best beach ever (for me anyway) so clean and you can walk for miles bare foot all the way. Lifeguards from one end to the other, if you visit you won’t be disappointed.” A sunset lover shared: “The views are amazing!! I took lots of photos and the sunsets were the best!
“Fantastic place, with 3 miles of pristine beach nestled in-between St Ives and Godrevy Lighthouse, a nature reserve on the estuary with hundreds of wading birds… just an amazing, non publicised town, a real gem of a place.”
Meanwhile, someone said: “This is really beautiful beach with a huge expanse of sand and some interesting rock pools. We visited on a sunny Saturday in August so parking was rather pot luck. As the tide was out there was plenty of space on the beach and it didn’t feel at all crowded.
“It was as windy as you might expect of a UK beach with what the surfers called “winter waves”. If you have a wind break it’s a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sound of the sea.”
Others commented on how beautiful the beach looks in the colder months, praising it as a year-round destination. For example,a dog owner commented: “Lovely beach can walk the dogs in winter season. Is a clean beach with steps and leads to godrevy beach.
“Towan walks also with dogs can do all year round.” Someone agreed: “Stunning. Wonderful beach clean dog friendly in the winter fantastic views over st Ives, Godrevy and Trencrom Hill.”
The postcode for Hayle Towans Beach is TR27 5AF. Cornwall Beaches says there is a car park in the nearby campsite.
