Members of the public shared their praise for the location, which offers many of the same attractions as the pleasure beach up the road. One person said: “St. Anne’s is far nicer than Blackpool.”

Another added: “Beautiful place to visit and the sand dunes and beach is nice.” A third person, who says they live in St. Anne’s, says the spot is perfect for those who are wanting long walks instead of donkey rides.

They wrote: “I’m very fortunate to live here, had a lovely long walk this afternoon from St. Anne’s to Lytham.” Even those who live in Blackpool say they prefer what St. Anne’s can offer.

One person said: “We live in Blackpool but our family beach days are always at St. Anne’s, the little pool and splash pad are great for my five-year-old.”

Other recommendations of beaches near Blackpool featured a tip-off about Stockport. The post reads: “This was a lovely seaside town.

“Just one hour from Manchester. It’s so clean, fresh, quiet, and scenic! So much better than Blackpool. There’s also a lake that runs in front of the sea – such a lovely town.”

One person who lives there wrote: “I live in Southport, the town centre has gotten worse the past few years but there are lovely spots. If you go five minutes down the road to Ainsdale beach, it’s gorgeous! If people think Southport is vile, they clearly haven’t travelled far.”

Another added: “You make Southport look romantic. I’ve lived here all my life but I feel like it’s gotten worse.” A third added: “I love Southport, I don’t care what anyone says.

Others believe those who are searching for issues with Southport are merely picking out problems which come with anywhere in the UK.

They wrote: “Everyone always finds an issue with where they live. it’s different when visiting a place for a couple of days. I like Southport but I’ve only ever been there to visit family. Blackpool was one of the best breaks we’ve been on also.”

Others have suggested Blackpool has the better theme park between the two cities, which may be a deciding factor when it comes to family days out.

St. Anne’s also does not have a theme park, but considering it’s just 10 minutes away, it could be a perfect alternative on busy days.
