Prince Harry has finally reunited with King Charles after more than a year and a half, but it’s still ‘not the right time for reconciliation’ with William, an expert told the Mirror

After weeks of speculation about whether they would meet, Prince Harry and King Charles enjoyed a sit-down for just under an hour this week at Clarence House, the monarch’s London home.

It marked the first time the father and son had spent time together in 19 months, with the last time the pair met coming shortly after the King’s cancer diagnosis.

While it might be a sign that things are slowly relaxing between Charles and Harry, after years of strain, relations have yet to show any sign of improving between the Duke of Sussex and Prince William.

And experts don’t think this is likely to change anytime soon, even speculating that the future King might not be too happy about his father’s sit-down with his estranged brother.

An expert said William might feel some ‘resentment’ towards his brother and father, making amends

Expert Jennie Bond, formerly the BBC’s royal correspondent, explained exclusively to the Mirror that William might even feel some “resentment” about Harry and Charles making up.

Especially after William has spent the last five years committed to his royal duties, with Harry on the other side of the world, regularly making candid admissions about the Windsors’ private lives and damaging allegations about the monarchy itself.

Jennie explained, “[William] has stood by his father through the past few tough years, he has stood IN for his father when needed, and he has stood UP for his father, declaring they are ‘very much not a racist family’.

She continued: “I’m sure the King would have told William in advance about his decision to meet Harry. But William wouldn’t be human if he didn’t feel some resentment about Harry flying back for a headline-grabbing few days, very publicly handing out dosh to charities (which is something the rest of the Royal Family do regularly – but discreetly) and strutting his stuff…while his brother does the day-to-day grip and grin business of the royal workload?”

The expert added that she didn’t believe that reconciliation between the brothers was on the horizon soon.

“Time may yet prove the great healer, but, where William is concerned, now is certainly not the right time for reconciliation with his sibling,” Jennis said. “Indeed, it may never happen.”

Other experts have echoed these sentiments, with commentator Daisy McAndrew telling The Sun, “My impression is [William] doesn’t feel comfortable with this rift being fixed and he, I don’t think, would have wanted this meeting to have gone ahead.”

She added that in her view, William “just thinks Harry’s too much trouble and he doesn’t want anything to do with him and he would rather the King didn’t as well.”
