What would you do if you got a terrible spray tan before you went on holiday? That’s exactly what happened to one woman who was going to Hawaii the morning after
A woman was left wondering whether she would be able to leave the house after getting a spray tan before she went on holiday “for a bit of colour”. Referring to it as a “spray tan disaster,” April Silvery explained that she was going to Hawaii in the early hours of the following morning, but she was so embarrassed by the way it turned out that she had no clue about what to do.
If you have paler skin, before you’re prancing around in your bikini, you may want to use a gradual tan or spray tan to make you feel more confident. But April’s tan fail left her feeling exactly the opposite.
Standing in front of the camera, she said: “You guys, this is what my spray tan turned out like. This is the spray tan that I walked out of the salon with”.
April said that she was “in absolute disbelief”. She only wanted to “get a bit of colour” before her 4am flight, but was left with an unnatural mahogany tone to her skin.
She declared: “If this does not wash off, I cannot leave my house”, before hopping straight into the shower!
In the comments, people joked that she looked like “Ross from Friends” when he got a dodgy spray tan.
However, others reassured that the tan would be just fine once she’d rinsed it off.
Someone wrote: “That’s gonna be the best tan ever once you rinse for the first time!!! Looks perfect. I am a spray tan artist. Have fun in Hawaii”.
A second said: “This happens to a lot of us. That is cosmetic bronzer that you are seeing. Be prepared to have little to no colour after you rinse. It takes 24 hours to process”.
Meanwhile, another added: “It’s just the bronzer, babe. Did she give you instructions on when to wash it off?”
April replied, saying that the woman didn’t “seem to know what she was doing” as she didn’t advise her not to “wear tight clothes”.
She was “disappointed” by this and “freaked out” at every stage. But thankfully, it all worked out well in the end.
April revealed the dark tan had “washed off well”, allowing her to “[have] a blast” on holiday.
How to protect your skin on holiday
Even if you fake tan, you should make sure to protect your skin when you’re in the sun.
Using SPF on holiday is important because your skin is often exposed to stronger and more prolonged sunlight than usual, especially if you are spending time outdoors, at the beach, or by the pool.
Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun can cause sunburn, premature ageing, and increase the risk of skin cancer.
Even on cloudy days or in cooler climates, UV rays can still damage your skin. Applying SPF helps protect your skin by blocking or absorbing these harmful rays, reducing the risk of immediate and long-term skin damage.
Additionally, sunburn can be painful and may ruin your holiday experience, so using SPF ensures you can enjoy your time safely and comfortably.
