When a woman ordered a personalised T-shirt for her son that was meant to just have his name on, she was left horrified at what was printed on the back when it arrived
Woman ‘shocked’ by awkward t-shirt mistake
A woman was left “howling” after she bought a custom T-shirt for her son – because it came with a glaring error that she noticed as soon as she opened it. Courtney Couper spent £3.96 on the garment from Temu, which was meant to have his name emblazoned on the front with a blank design on the back.
When she was ordering it, the boxes for both front and back of the top had to be filled in. However, the printer took the instructions the wrong way. It turned out, the private note to the seller had been written on the back of the T-shirt in big bold letters, leaving Courtney “in shock”.
She said: “At the time of writing that message to the seller, I actually laughed to myself thinking, imagine if they printed this message on the back.
“I never thought they actually would; I thought my instructions were really obvious.
“I was a little disappointed at first, but I couldn’t help but be amused. I still have it, more as a joke. My son can wear it around the home”.
The message read: “Dear seller, I do not want anything printed on the back. I would like the back of the T-shirt to remain blank. Thank you”.
But, instead, the back had these words printed on it.
Thankfully, after she raised the issue with Temu, they were happy to refund her the almost £4 she paid for it.
Courtney, from Ahipara, New Zealand, said she hasn’t been put off shopping with the bargain site. Thankfully, most of her previous custom orders have gone smoothly.
But she warned other parents to be careful when ordering personalised products, or you’ll be risking ending up with a major blunder that will have everyone in stitches.
She said: “I love Temu. I’ve ordered a lot of personalised items in the past and they’ve been great. But I probably would avoid ordering custom items if you want to leave the front or back blank.
“I don’t think a real person is reading your orders; it must be a machine”.
A spokeperson for Temu said: “We want to thank Courtney for placing the order. We understand it didn’t meet her expectations and appreciate the good humour she brought to the situation.
“She was given a full refund, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve her again in the future.
