Boy, 17, arrested on suspicion of rape in North London park

Police are not looking to speak to anyone else after arresting a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of rape after police were told of ‘serious sexual assault’ in a North London park. The alleged attack happened in Sunny Hill Park, Hendon, at about 8.20pm yesterday (September 15).

There is a crime scene in place, and cops say there will be extra officers in the area. The Met said it hopes the public feel ‘reassured’ following the ‘prompt’ arrest.

Anyone with information relating to the incident is encouraged to contact the Met via 101, quoting 7178/15SEP.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A 17-year-old boy remains in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of rape shortly after reports of a serious sexual assault in Sunny Hill Park, Hendon at 8.20pm on Monday, September 15.

“A crime scene remains in place while initial investigations are carried out. The community can expect to see an increased police presence and detectives are thanking residents for their patience and support. They too would like to reassure the public that they are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident, following a prompt arrest by officers.

“Anyone with information relating to the incident is encouraged to contact the Met via 101, quoting 7178/15SEP.
