A resident is convinced that their former neighbour poisoned their cat 11 years ago so they have been getting petty revenge every year but some people think they should have taken it further
A resident found a way to get revenge on the person next door – carrying out the same petty act every year. They sprang into action after their former neighbour allegedly poisoned their family cat a decade ago.
The dispute first began more than 10 years ago. On Reddit, the resident anonymously revealed that their property and garden was higher than their neighbour’s, which caused problems. When they watered their garden, the water would trickle down the slope onto her garden, therefore “killing her trees”.
The dispute went on for months, but the resident ignored any animosity because they planned to move away. However, the situation escalated when the tenant, who was 12-years-old at the time, came home from school and saw their cat lying by the door lifeless.
A post to the r/Neighborsfromhell Reddit page reads: “We took her to the vet and they confirmed she was poisoned. The only possible culprit was our neighbour.
“After we came back home my mom confronted our neighbour. Our neighbor told my mom that ‘it’s not nice when your things die.’
“My whole family was distraught. My neighbour thought she got the last laugh except I hold grudges and I was an absolutely evil child.”
The resident was “so enraged” and spent days trying to come up with an idea on how to get revenge. They waited until they moved out of the house and enlisted the help of a friend who owned a dog.
They hatched a plan to spread the dog’s droppings all over the neighbour’s car and door and then waited to see her reaction.
As soon as the teen got their driving license, she took things up a notch. She began driving by the woman’s house to egg it every Halloween since.
In the title of the Reddit post, the user wrote: “My neighbor killed my cat 11 years ago and I am still getting back at her.”
It has racked up more than 200 comment on the forum. But while this resident was praised for taking action for their beloved pet, some people thought they could have taken things even further.
One said: “Want an easy peasy trick? Buy fish and throw [them] on the roof. They would slide down in the gutters, and some stay on the roof. The smell will kill her.”
Another added: “Throw a few handfuls of beef bullion cubes in the yard before a good rain. Every dog in the neighborhood will be digging in the yard looking for a treat.”
A third user chimed in: “You need to sign her up for every stupid mail spam possible.”
Another questioned: “Egging her house once a year? For killing your cat? No offence but this is pretty weak for someone who’s self proclaimed evil. I was expecting so much more.”
However, someone else praised the tenant for getting revenge. They commented: “Good on you! I’m glad you got her back. Your cat is smiling from [the] rainbow bridge.”
The Metropolitan Police advises that if you see or suspect that a person may be treating an animal badly, this should be reported to the RSPCA. The police force works with the animal welfare charity together to investigate cases of animal cruelty.
