When popping into a charity shop, you’d typically expect to find an assortment of mugs, second-hand clothing, and 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles. However, one thrift store browser was left feeling rather unsettled after rifling through the notebook section and stumbling upon a youngster’s anxious message.

On the Reddit forum ‘FoundPaper’, they merely commented: “Found in a charity shop. I feel ya, kid.” Within the notebook, the child had straightforwardly responded to the prompt “Something I’m worried about…” by writing, ‘What will happen later’. Whilst some users made light of the child’s message, others suggested it appeared more like an elderly person’s penmanship rather than that of a young child.

One user commented: “Same. This occupies my thoughts.”

Another user remarked: “I’m a retired teacher of kids. I’ve seen some write like this especially if they have taught themselves cursive before it gets taught at school.

“I agree it could be a senior as it is also how my mum wrote as she got older. My brother with a brain injury also writes this way.”

A third user stated: “This is definitely elderly writing, not child’s.”

One more user commented: “As a kid, I always worried about what will happen later. that poor person who wrote this.”

Another user remarked: “My first instinct was a senior rather than a child. Heartbreaking actually.”

In response to this, another user said: “My fiancé had the best handwriting I ever saw, as she got sicker I would notice her handwriting getting worse, I have ledgers she kept with her blood pressure and other things as she progressively got sicker.

“I look at them sometimes and think about the days we had together and how she was feeling on that day. I miss her.”

It comes after a bloke hit the jackpot following his purchase of a £10 box from a charity shop, only to discover it was packed with rare and collectible coins.

After having a “little look” inside the container, he decided to take a punt to the tune of £10, having spotted several old coins and wondering whether they held any worth.

In a TikTok clip, he admitted his lack of expertise about coins and asked his followers for their views.

To his disappointment, he received countless comments suggesting they were virtually worthless and would earn him a measly £25 at most.

Nevertheless, he carried out his own investigation and put one of the ‘rarer’ coins on eBay to see whether it could generate a profit.

He disclosed: “The individual coin that I listed has now in fact sold – making me well in profit from this coin.”

Since he’s not a coin collector, he decided to give away his remaining coins to one of his followers, who was delighted to add them to their collection.
