A new riddle is leaving people stumped as they try to do complex working out to come to the correct solution, but the answer is actually very simple – can you solve it?
Riddles are tricky puzzles designed to challenge the brain by making you think outside the box. Some popular riddles have become easy to solve over time as people have heard them before and remember the answers, but there are plenty out there that still leave people scratching their heads for an answer.
Solving riddles can be good for your brain, as they can enhance problem-solving skills, boost memory and concentration, and promote flexible and critical thinking. They are also just fun, giving you a huge mood boost when you finally manage to crack the brainteaser and find the correct answer.
In a video shared on TikTok by Talk to the Nation, a new riddle was shared that has been leaving people scratching their heads as they struggle to solve it.

The riddle shared was: “If today is Friday, what is the day that follows the day that comes after the day that precedes the day that comes before yesterday?”
This might sound confusing at first, but if you break it down into smaller chunks of information, you should be able to figure out the answer. This puzzle is all about using the information you’ve been given, and there are no tricks or red herrings that can trip you up.
Every part of the riddle contains important information, and there are several ways to solve it.
If you’re struggling, try looking at the problem backwards. Since the current day in the riddle is Friday, “yesterday” must have been Thursday. You can then use that to work out each of the steps until you reach the right answer.

Answer
The answer is Thursday. The riddle essentially asked you, if today is Friday, what day was yesterday?
There are a couple of ways to reach this solution. You can start by working backwards and doing each part of the riddle one step at a time. “Yesterday” is Thursday, so “the day before” that is Wednesday, and the “day that precedes” that is Tuesday.
Then, the beginning section asks for “the day that follows the day that comes after”, so you need to skip forward two days from Tuesday – taking you back to Thursday.
But the man who solved the riddle on TikTok had an even simpler solution that involved maths. He stated that the riddle contains two addition phrases and three subtraction phrases, so you need to do the sum: “2 – 3”.
This will give you minus one, which means you need to subtract one day from Friday – giving you Thursday.
