Much was made of the fact that Prince Harry reunited with his father, King Charles, during his recent trip to the UK. But the Duke also found time to see with another member of the royal family on his four-day visit, it has been revealed.

A spokesperson for Harry has confirmed that he privately met with Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent at Kensington Palace, to pay his respects following the death of his wife, Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, who passed away on 4 September at the age of 92.

The royal family were out in force at the Duchess’s funeral, which took place on 16 September, with the King joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and her husband Sir Tim Laurence, and – more surprisingly – Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

Harry did not attend. He had already departed the UK, with a source telling HELLO that he “loved catching up with family, friends and colleagues” during his brief stay.

“His only regret was not being able to stay longer and see more people, but the meetings in Ukraine had been in the diary for a long time, and it mattered to him to be there in person to see the Invictus Games Foundation’s growing work and the progress at Superhumans,” the source added.

“The whole trip felt like a real success for everyone involved,” the source said. “His passion for his patronages and the causes he cares about hasn’t dimmed one bit — he’s already buzzing to get back and do more.”

Harry spent around 55 minutes with King Charles during his return to the UK; the first time they have seen each other since February 2024.

It has sparked rumours that the pair now plan to see each other regularly and may take part in public appearances together. Onlookers have also suggested it has paved the way for Harry to return to the royal fold, but the duke insists he is very happy with his life in California.

Following the father and son reunon, Harry travelled to Ukraine where he gave another new bombshell interview.

In the candid chat to The Guardian , Harry insisted he has a “clear conscience” when it comes to the scathing revelations he’s made about his family and revealed his father Charles is now his “main focus”.

During the lengthy interview, the Duke of Sussex reflected on Spare and his work on various Netflix programmes. These, Harry argued, were his and Meghan’s attempts at correcting “one point of view”.

“I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear,” Harry said.

But it may have proven to be a costly mistake. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes Harry would have been “better to stay zipped about his meeting with his father”.

She told the Mirror: “His first comment was that his dad was ‘great’. And I don’t think the Palace would have any problem with that. But to have been drawn into commenting on whether he had any regrets about his book was naive.

“He just can’t seem to stop himself from doubling down on his grievances. He was clearly responding to a specific question about whether he’d aired his ‘dirty laundry’ in public. He should simply have said he had no comment, and re-directed the focus of the interview to his visit to Ukraine.

“To be tempted into asserting that his conscience was clear about all that he had said in his book, and that there ‘cannot be reconciliation before you have truth’, was just asking for trouble.

“I don’t think it’s serious trouble: he didn’t say anything that we hadn’t already heard. But it may well have set alarm bells ringing at the Palace. Nothing, it seems, can be guaranteed to be kept private by Harry.”

And while it might not ultimately harm any reconciliation with his father the King, Jennie believes the comments do not bode well for a potential reunion with his estranged brother Prince William.

She added: “That will be anathema to William in particular. He guards his privacy and the privacy of his family with a ring of steel.

“Trust and discretion are at the heart of family relations. And Harry has a long way to go before he can hope to regain his brother’s trust.”
