A number of customers have taken to social media to share their recent experiences with a popular UK deodorant, with the company behind the product issuing a warning

Revlon has been sending out letters of apology and ‘gestures of goodwill’ to UK customers who have complained about experiencing ‘rashes, bumps and burning’ after using certain Mitchum deodorants.

The parent company of Mitchum responded to disgruntled shoppers who reached out via their website to report skin irritation caused by the 48-hour roll-on antiperspirant and deodorant.

Mitchum expressed deep regret over the issue, attributing it to a change in the manufacturing process that affected one of the raw materials used.

Customers began sharing their experiences on TikTok, prompting a response from Mitchum: “We are aware of reports from some customers regarding reactions to select batches of Mitchum 48-hour 100ml roll-on anti-perspirant and deodorant sold in the UK, Ireland and South Africa.”

“No other products in our portfolio are impacted. Consumer wellbeing is always our priority, and we are truly sorry some of our customers have experienced temporary irritation.”

They added: “This is not the experience they expect from us. We take this kind of feedback extremely seriously and have worked hard to investigate the cause.”

“We want to reassure there has been no change to the formula of our products, but we have identified a change in the manufacturing process affecting one of our raw materials.”

It concluded: “This has impacted how the roll-on interacts with the skin of some users. We can confirm this issue has now been resolved and we are working to remove the small amount of product remaining on shelf. In addition, we have reverted to the original manufacturing process to ensure no other batches are affected.”

Affected shoppers were urged to get in touch with the UK customer support team, providing batch codes and details of their concerns. This week, postal correspondence began landing on British doorsteps addressed to those impacted by the alteration.

In the correspondence, Revlon customer response representatives penned: “We are indeed sorry to learn of the experience you attribute to Mitchum X3 Women Roll-On, but we are glad to have the opportunity to assist you. It is our goal to market the highest quality products possible and to satisfy the personal care needs of our consumers.”

“Thank you for taking the time to inform us of your observations. Please be assured your comments have been forwarded to the appropriate personnel.”

It continued: “As a gesture of goodwill, we are enclosing a voucher(s) for your use. Thank you for your continued interest in our products. Please be assured of our desire to be of service whenever possible.”

The package also included two discount vouchers valued at £3.50 each that could be used against Revlon, Mitchum and Charlie products at Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda, Boots and Superdrug.
