NatWest has confirmed it is closing another 20 branches in October, as part of a major shake-up in the banking sector
NatWest has confirmed it will be shutting down another 20 branches in October, marking the latest wave of closures.
Which? data reveals that banks and building societies have closed a staggering 6,522 branches since January 2015, averaging 53 closures every month.
The bank attributes the closures to evolving customer habits, with over 80% of their current account holders now opting for digital platforms for their banking needs, reports Birmingham Live.

A statement on NatWest’s website reads: “Banking has changed dramatically in recent years, with an increased demand for mobile and online services, as our customers benefit from a faster and easier way to bank.
“Closing a branch is a decision we take very seriously. We know it can affect those who are less confident with the alternatives we offer. We’ll always work hard to guide and support you through the changes and find the best way to serve you from now on.”
