Grey skies have been reported across much of the East of England
A yellow fog warning issued by the Met Office is likely to delay travel in London this morning (September 29). Grey clouds have moved in across much of the East of England overnight, with visibility falling to 50 metres in some places.
This is affecting Greater London, as well as Kent, Essex, Sussex and Surrey – find the full list of areas impacted below. Conditions are predicted to clear at around 9am, though rush hour traffic in to and around the capital may be disrupted.
People have been advised to leave extra time if driving, and to check for updates on bus and train services. The Woolwich Ferry is currently not operating, and there is a chance of delays or cancellations to flights.
Ferry travel may also be affected, and there is a chance flights could be held up or cancelled. However, the Met Office says the fog is likely to have “low impact”.
As the fog clears later in the morning, a calm day is expected to follow with bouts of mist and plenty of sunny intervals. Temperatures will peak at 18C close to 5pm before dipping to just 15C in the evening.
Tonight is expected to be chilly with patches of cloud returning, with little to no fog expected.
