Netflix viewers have been absolutely hooked to a particular sci-fi series on the streaming site, as they’ve even admitted they can’t help but rewatch and binge it over and over again
As much as we all adore a good telly binge, sometimes the sheer amount of choice can be overwhelming; however, viewers have been absolutely gripped by an under-the-radar sci-fi drama. The series, which spans three seasons, has had people confessing they believe it’s “underrated” as they don’t think enough people know about it.
Telly enthusiasts began buzzing about the drama, which is available on Netflix, when someone asked for viewing recommendations on Reddit. Many were quick to suggest they give Travelers a go, and the science fiction series was dreamt up by Brad Wright and boasts a star-studded cast including Eric McCormack, Mackenzie Porter, Jared Abrahamson and Nesta Cooper, among others.
The first two seasons were a joint venture between Netflix and Canadian channel Showcase, but from the third season onwards, Netflix took the reins. Viewers are so engrossed in the series that they’ve confessed to watching it more than once, and it comes after another “spectacular” sci-fi epic impressed viewers earlier this year.
On Reddit, one social media user posed the question: “What is the most underrated show you have found on Netflix? Sometimes I stumble upon a show I have never heard of before and end up loving it way more than I expected.
“I am curious if anyone else has had this experience. What is the most underrated show you have discovered on Netflix that more people should watch?”
To this, one person replied: “Travelers.” Another person responded to the comment, saying: “We loved it and it seems like nobody else has watched it. I was going to put it if nobody else did!”
A third also wrote: “Ugh… I still think about the Travelers concept. Brilliant…just brilliant. I wish there were at least two more seasons.”
Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “Such a fun and interesting concept of a show. I’m glad it ended the way it did, but it was too soon.”
If you’ve never come across the programme, it’s based in a dystopian future, where thousands of specialist agents are attempting to avert societal breakdown. These agents, called “travelers”, have their minds transmitted backwards through time and are placed into the “host” bodies of contemporary individuals facing death, minimising unforeseen consequences for the future.
Since the programme’s debut in 2016, it’s achieved a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and enthusiasts can’t help but praise it, despite the fact that not everyone appears aware of its popularity amongst audiences.
On other social platforms, viewers have confessed their absolute adoration for the series, with some having binged it repeatedly. It appears the show genuinely left audiences craving more content.
One commented: “Just finished a rewatch. Great show.” Another added: “Just watched it again and it’s just incredible. Sad it ended, but it ended well. Such a well-written show.”
A different viewer penned: “I have binge-watched this show two times in a row and am now doing it for a third time. I notice new things each time I watch it.
“I’ve never felt this kind of attachment to a TV series since Prison Break. This one stuck with me especially, and I reference the show all the time. It’s like some of the personality of the characters rubbed off on me.
“Each one of the travelers have their own very unique situations, which makes every episode feel fresher than the last. Truly one of the top five TV series I’ve ever watched.”
Meanwhile, another fan added: “On my third binge of it, maybe the fourth, I don’t know to be honest. Whenever I’m bored of everything else and want something sci-fi, it’s Travelers that fills that hole.”
