The pair were not long out of prison for drugs offences in Southend when they were caught with mobile phones, cash and over £6,000 worth of gear. The investigation into the Sussex line began on May 8 of this year, when patrolling officers arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of dealing class As in Brighton.

A subsequent search of a nearby house thought to be linked uncovered messages marketing pricelists from a contact saved as ‘Jo Jo Hove’. The number was connected to Elorby, whom police identified as the line’s controller.

On August 7, officers seized cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine, ketamine and cannabis from a house in Hove. Multiple mobile phones and £1,200 in cash were also found.

Elorby and Ahmad were both arrested at the property and taken into custody. The pair were charged with being concerned in the supply of a class A drug, possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property, and remanded into custody.

They pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on September 11, and sentenced later the same day. Elorby was handed four and a half years behind bars, with Ahmad, of no fixed abode, was slapped with four years and three months.

PC Emily Begley, of Sussex Police, said: “I am pleased that the sentencing given reflects the seriousness of the offences committed repeatedly by these two men. We are committed to our work in disrupting drug supply in Brighton and across Sussex.

“Our priority continues to be catching criminals and keeping communities safe.”
