A Sainsbury’s shopper recently headed to the supermarket to do a food shop, and spent £35.00. She showed off what she managed to bag and people can’t get over the results
There’s nothing like doing a supermarket shop, but it’s no secret that food shopping can be expensive in this day and age; however, some stores offer deals to reduce some of their prices. None the less, one woman recently headed to Sainsbury’s to buy some food, and spent just under £35.00 on the goodies.
When she revealed what she snapped up at the supermarket, people couldn’t get over what she bagged for the price tag, with many appearing pretty surprised. In a post on Reddit, she detailed what she bought and opened up about her shopping experience, and it’s fair to say people were left a little impressed.
She confessed she spent £34.93 on the shop, before displaying all the items she snapped up laid out on a table. It comes after the supermarket confirmed new scanners would be rolled out in stores, marking a huge change for shoppers.
Alongside the snap, the woman wrote: “They were out of own-brand veggie mince and I treated myself to the good tinned tomatoes so those cost a little more! Not pictured: the giant pickled onion monster munch I will inevitably buy later this week despite my ‘eat healthy promise’.”
In the picture, you could see she managed to buy quite a lot of food including items such as pasta, tinned produce, fresh fruit and vegetables and meat. For under £35.00, she didn’t do bad at all.
People seem impressed with what she managed to bag, with dozens having commented on the post. They offered all sorts of different opinions.
One person said: “After living in various places around the world, I can safely say I’m so happy to live in the UK with really reasonably priced groceries. Even the cheaper ones like Aldi are decent quality!”
Another added: “Share your meal plan please, if you have one.” A third replied: “In case you haven’t seen it yet, Aldi have really stepped up their frozen vegetarian section in my opinion.
“The pesto and cheese sausages are delicious. Lots of options too. I like stocking up with stuff like that as it’s a cheap, very easy meal that’s relatively healthy.”
Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “Insert Americans here losing their minds about the prices. 40p for beans, these would be like eight bucks.”
To this, someone else replied: “Can confirm, I live in California and every time I’m visiting my in-laws in England, I cry at how cheap and good quality the groceries are.”
One more added: “I hear you. I’m often shocked at the prices you guys pay. I live elsewhere in Europe now and, when I zip back to the UK, I realise the quality/price ratio is certainly one of the best in Europe.”
