Three teenage boys were injured in the attack
Two 17-year-old boys have been charged with grievous bodily harm following an alleged acid attack in Walthamstow. At 4.30pm on Wednesday, October 1 police were called to reports of two groups of boys fighting in Walthamstow Market.
Officers say a liquid was thrown during the brawl which was later confirmed to be a corrosive substance. Three boys were reportedly hosed off by firefighters before being taken to hospital. Their injuries were not found to be life threatening or changing.
Both 17-year-olds were charged on Thursday and will appear at at Stratford Magistrates’ Youth Court today (Friday, October 3) also accused of possessing a bladed article, possessing a corrosive substance and affray.
Another teenage boy was arrested in connection with the attacks but has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Two teenage boys, both aged 17-years-old, were charged on Thursday, 2 October with attempted grievous bodily harm, possession of a bladed article, possession of a corrosive substance and affray.
“They are set to appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Youth Court on Friday, 3 October and cannot be named for legal reasons.
“At around 4.30pm on Wednesday, October 1 officers responded to reports of a fight between two groups of boys on Walthamstow High Street, Waltham Forest.
“During the incident a liquid was thrown which was later confirmed to be a corrosive substance.
“Police attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade. Three boys were taken to hospital, where they were assessed to have non life-threatening nor life-changing injuries. Three 17-year-old boys were arrested in connection with the incident.
“Two were charged as above and the third was bailed pending further enquiries.
