A homeowner has revealed the bone-chilling moment he spotted a ghostly figure wandering the streets opposite his home after getting a strange alert on his video doorbell
Doorbell footage appears to show a “ghost” walking on street
This is the chilling moment that a man thought someone was at his front door – only to see a ‘ghost’ walking past his residence.
The homeowner caught the spooky discovery on his Ring video doorbell, with eerie footage showing a white shadow moving along the pavement in broad daylight before disappearing into thin air.
Shane Irwin, 42, said the smart doorbell notified him just before 8pm that someone at his front door. But when he checked the footage back, he was surprised to see nobody was there – until he spotted what he believes was a ghostly apparition.
Shane – a self-proclaimed horror fan – says the clip is made even spookier by the fact that he lives opposite a cemetery.

He said: “The doorbell notified me that someone was at my door, and I didn’t see anything at first. Then I spotted it. I rewatched it probably for about 15 minutes, it was so cool.
“I was amazed,” Shane, who lives in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, USA, continued. “Right there across the street is a cemetery. I am very interested in horror, I love ghosts and the paranormal so I thought it was amazing.
“I definitely think that it is a ghost. It is not a time of day when there is fog. It is just too perfect to be anything else.

“You don’t usually see stuff like this happening in the daytime. I have seen videos like this on the internet but it is always at night and really faint. This is very clear. I showed my sister and a few of my friends who believe in ghosts, and they said I definitely captured something.”
It comes after a ‘famous ghost’ was seemingly caught on camera lurking in a doorway of Oxford Castle. The picture shows a cloaked white figure standing in a doorway’s shadow. Spookily, its exact location is linked to the historical Empress Matilda’s 12th century escape during a siege.
Over time, there have been various sightings of Matilda, daughter of King Henry I, along with stories of her spirit continuing to walk the halls of the historic Oxford city site.
The eerie photo was taken by an Australian tourist called Lewy Jones who was visiting the medieval castle to sight-see as part of his gap year.
The ghostly white figure shares striking similarities with the historic depictions of Matilda’s escape. She is said to have climbed down from the tower window, before legendarily skated across the frozen River Thames in an attempt to evade her captor.
Lewy Jones said: “The photo was actually accidentally taken on my digital camera while we were climbing back down the stairs from the tower. I hadn’t noticed this photo until we returned home and I was browsing pics from the day.
“It appears to show a cloaked figure in a white dress in the doorway. The spooky bit is that I am quite certain that the room was completely empty with no white dress as me and my cousin had poked our heads in the doorway during the climb up”.
