A woman was left gobsmacked when she spotted Diet Coke in her local Morrisons store for a fraction of the ususal price, and she knew that she had to stock up on them

There’s nothing quite like indulging in a crisp Diet Coke while you eat your lunch, so when one Coke superfan saw four cans at a bargain price in her local supermarket, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Sometimes, browsing the clearance section when you’re doing your grocery shopping can pay dividends, and you can find some serious bargains.

That’s exactly what happened when Megs, who posts as @glutenfreewithmegss, found four cans in her local Morrisons for just 55p. Normally retailing for £3.45, making cans around 86p each, she was shocked to find that each can would cost about 14p – an absolute bargain.

Megs joked that she was “addicted,” so she needed to load her trolley up with as many four packs as she could get her hands on. She said that it was “the only logical response” to seeing Diet Coke so cheap, and there are various other supermarket colas you can bag at cheap rates too.

Megs loaded her trolley up with 12 four-packs of Diet Coke, and it was going to set her back just £6.60.

Usually, this would have cost her a whopping £41.40, so it was well worth her stocking up as much as she could. In the comments, some were curious whether it had been done by “mistake”.

Another woman said that, in her local store, all varieties of Coke had been reduced to 55p, rather than just Diet Cokes. Megs then pointed out that she’d been back since, and the other varieties had been reduced to £1.25.

Someone suggested: “At my store, they all had February next year as the expiration date, think they’re left over from the fancy meal deals when you got a starter, main and a dessert, so they’re trying to get rid of them”.

Another said that it might be to “clear” them to make way for the “Christmas promotion packs,” so she just got really lucky when she spied them.

Somebody accused Megs of making a “fake” video, saying “they’re £3.45 on the Morrisons website”.

To this, Megs replied: “It’s quite obvious that this was literally a video in the shop. They had obviously overstocked and were trying to get rid”.

It seems as though different stores have different prices, depending on the store’s stock levels of the items and how many the shop may need to get rid of.

A TikTok user said that they were going to nip down to their local supermarket to see whether they had any bargain deals on.

While this deal may not have been available nationwide, it’s always worth checking the clearance section while you’re doing your weekly shop, as you may find some of your favourite products at just a fraction of the price, and it’s best to stock up while you can.
