Dyson is launching a new CleanTrace upgrade which will show where you’ve vacuumed and which bits you’ve missed.

If you’re constantly missing crumbs, pet hairs and dust during the weekly clean Dyson thinks it has the answer. The UK firm is about to launch a clever new “CleanTrace” upgrade that will show you exactly where you’ve vacuumed and which spots have been dodged.

This will be made possible thanks to your smartphone which will clamp to the current Dyson Gen5detect’s suction pole and show you a map of where has been cleaned via a new app.

Clever Augmented Reality (AR) is also being used to overlay a virtual cleaning trace on your floors – this can then guide you to areas that haven’t been touched.

It’s hoped this system will help users speed up their weekly chores whilst removing more muck from their tiles and carpets.

Dyson says it has taken inspiration for the idea from its 360 Vis Nav robot cleaner which already knows exactly where it’s cleaned and where it needs to head next.

A release of CleanTrace service is expected in June although the company is yet to reveal any news pricing just yet.

“We realised that we could all learn a thing or two from the methodical cleaning approach of our robot vacuums,” said Charlie Park – VP of Engineering, Dyson Home

“Unlike most humans doing the cleaning, Dyson robots know where they are in the room, where they have been, and where they have yet to go. With the Dyson CleanTrace™, we add this extra layer of cleaning intelligence to the Gen5detect vacuum. It gives you the ability to see where you have and haven’t cleaned, which, combined with our on-board particle sensing technology, gives proof that the floor is truly clean.”

The launch of CleanTrace comes hot on the heels of another new Dyson device called the V15s Detect Submarine. This machine now includes the ability to mop floors as well as suck up dust and grime which should make this machine a one-stop shop for the weekly chores.

Mirror Online recently put it to test and you can read our full V15s Detect Submarine thoughts here.
