A bride was baffled when a casual acquaintance showed up to her big day and made the ultimate wedding guest faux pas – but she still managed to get the last laugh
A bride was stunned when a guest showed up at her wedding committing the ultimate guest faux pas: wearing white. Thereâs many etiquette rules and traditions that have fallen out of favour at weddings, but wearing white to someone elseâs big day remains a big no-no.
Guests who show up to a wedding ceremony in white are often a cause of negative discussion, with many people in disbelief over the blunder. One woman got a shock on her wedding day when a very loose acquaintance arrived in a floor length, white dress.
The bride managed to see the funny side though – especially when others were quick to point out her resemblance to all manner of objects and food items, with some of the belief the dress made her look like a wedding cake.
Taking to Reddit, the newlywed posted a carousel of three images of the offending guest – captured by her wedding photographer – which shows her dancing and enjoying the occasion while wearing a ruffled white dress.
In the caption accompanying the images, the bride penned: âA girlfriend of a friend of my husbandâs brother wore white to my wedding. I have only met her a few times before this.
âI wasnât upset, I just thought it was funny that this ACTUALLY happened. Seems to be pretty common these days. Maybe itâs a sign of good luck?? My photographer got some great shots.â
In the comments section, fellow Reddit users were keen to share their thoughts with many making comparisons between the dress and all manner of items.
One person said: âAt least she dressed as the wedding cakeâ.
Another said: âLol she should make that a tag in Facebook for those pictures, âlook! Someone was so excited to be at my wedding that they dressed up as a wedding cake!ââ
A third commented: âThe bravery to wear such an ugly dress is worthy of applause.â
Someone else said: âShe looks like a caterpillar to me.â
Another replied: âI was thinking grandma’s spare roll of toilet paper cover.â
And another said: âLeaning Tower of Pisa hereâ, while one person simply quipped: âJellyfishâ.
Another Reddit user said: âItâs a good thing she dressed as a Wacky Waving Inflatable Tube Guyâ.
One person was impressed by the brideâs approach to the situation and said: âI love your attitude about this. âMust be good luck!â instead of âwhat the f*** imma fight this girlââ.
Someone else praised the photographerâs efforts: âOh you know that photographer was on a mission to get ALL the shots of this disaster! Hahahaâ.
Another noticed the guestâs shoes appeared to be a little too small for her, with her toes visibly splaying over the edge of her shoe.
They simply shared: âIâm ngl [not gonna lie], the shoes are the craziest part of the whole getupâ.
And one Reddit user couldnât understand the psychology behind a personâs decision to wear white to a wedding: âI truly don’t understand why women do this. Whatâs the draw? Everyone knows this is tacky AF, even the women who do it.
âSo…. why?! Is it their subconscious desire to be a bride? Do they like being hated? Is it the only item of clothing they own? I don’t understand the psychology of it.â
